Mother of orphans
A soul out of life’s hardship was born as Mother to over a thousand children and devoted her entire life to social service. After 70 years of lifespan (Born:1948/ Died:2022), she has raised a grand family of 220 son-in-laws, 50 daughter-in-laws. “Mai” adopted over more than 1200 orphaned kids and provided them with food, shelter and education.
Sindhutai was honoured with ‘Padmashri’ in the year 2021 by Hon. President of India, with more than 1000 awards for her dedicated social work..

‘Saptasindhu’ Mahila Adhar, Balsangopan And Shikshan Sanstha, founded in 1998 by ‘Padmashri’ Dr. Sou. Sindhutai Sapakal (Maai), echoes her commitment to the poor and underprivileged. In the last 25 years, the institution has reintegrated the downtrodden into mainstream society. Maai’s legacy lives on through its transformative impact.
In 1998, the first branch, ‘Sanmati Bal Niketan,’ was established in Hadapsar, Pune, followed by the ‘Gopika Gai Rakshan Kendra’ in Wardha in 2007. In October 2017, Maai founded the ‘Tirtharup Educational Residential Center,’ primarily for underprivileged children.

The Responsibility
Sindhutai gave away her own daughter “Mamata” to the Shrimant Dagdu Sheth Halwai trust of Pune, to eliminate the feeling of partiality between her own child and the adopted children.
Years later and after completing her education, Mamata-tai – as she is lovingly called by the children, started assisting “Maai”. After the sad demise of Sindhutai in Jan 2022, Mamata Sindhutai Sapakal undertook the responsibility of children.
